About Me

Hey there!  I'm Sarah...Sarah Jane.  I'm the wife of a wonderfully supportive husband and a mommy to four awesome kids - two boys and two girls.  I recently decided to return to my job  as a stay-at-home mom after owning my own custom frame shop and gallery for six years.  We were blessed with a baby boy in May of 2011 and there was NO WAY I was going to miss a minute of his "baby-hood"!  It was during my pregnancy with him that I discovered this wonderful place I call Blog Land, where I could get lost for hours and be so inspired both by the projects I would find as well as by the women who created them.  We've since added another member to the family.  A beautiful baby girl joined us in November of 2013.

I have always loved to decorate and create.  After graduating from Illinois State University with a degree in art and a minor in mass communications/journalism, I worked in graphic design for a few years and then ended up in the picture framing and art business as I mentioned earlier.  Decorating, crafting, DIY-ing, flea-marketing are all passions of mine...cleaning & laundry- not so much.  We recently moved from a tiny house into a home that accommodates our growing family.  I'm so excited to share our progress as we make this new house our home!

A bit about the name "Picked by Jane."  My husband is in the auction and estate sale business, and yes he talks really fast.  He's a professional "picker" of sorts.  Me, I'm your average, amateur picker.  I love what I love, doesn't matter if it's worth anything or not.  I'd say 75% of our home is from an auction, estate sale, or thrift shop.  Growing up my cousin always called me Jane (my middle name...after my mom).  Thus, our entire house has been "Picked by Jane."  Get it?
